Thaidal Zone Restaurant: Reviews & Ratings
Stopped in after our daughter’s hockey game before taking the ferry back to the island. We chose this place because it had lots of vegetarian options. We were the first ones in after the 3:30 pm opening. We ordered just in time. A few minutes later an entire soccer team with parents came in to eat before catching the same ferry. I thought it was going to be a complete disaster. The two servers handled everything very calmly and well. Our food was very good. The vegetarian dishes were excellent and the ginger beef my wife ordered was amazing. I would not consider this a traditional Thai restaurant as they have Chinese type dishes as well as American hamburgers and fries. I think they are trying to please everyone since they are across the street from the ferry. Compliments to the servers and chef for handling what went from an empty place to completely full in minutes. The food was good and well priced. The food tasted home made and very flavourful. We will be back.
This place is okay, but could be better. We ordered the vegetarian pa naeng curry (48) and pad broccoli (V1). We were disappointed in the spiciness level - its always a gamble - but we found the 3/5 to be barely there heat. Also disappointed that the protein options for curries etc did not include tofu. Vegetarian curry is just vegetables.
Delicious. So much so that there was no table talk - just a bunch of hands grabbing food off dishes, mouths chewing and satisfying sounds coming from everyone eating. The decor is simple but quaint. Service is good and the food is to die for. The portions are NOT small. You will take stuff home for round 2 and maybe 3 of more deliciousness.
Such great food. We had a few challenges being a later table but we made reservations. The kitchen made this meal worthwhile. I would definitely go back with earlier reservations so we don't feel rushed out. 3 stars due to one person's dish not coming up and not receiving an appetizer.
So happy to have discovered this place! The Phad Thai was absolutely delicious and the portion was generous. I’ll definitely be coming back every time I’m in Powell River — whether I’m heading to the ferry or camping at Willingdon Beach. Highly recommend!
We had a great experience. Great location close to the ferry terminal (just across the street). We didn't know when we were looking for a food place that it was very close to the ferry terminal. We are two hours early for our reservation, but we have already lined up. While eating at the restaurant. It was so hot that day, thankfully, we could bring our fur baby to their patio dining. The food was delicious and affordable.
Ate here two days in a row on my trip to Powell River. The food was really tasty and the portion sizes were quite large. Would definitely recommend the pad thai and green curry.
Leaving Powell River on the ferry? Go the the Thaidal Zone for food before you leave!!! Hot, fresh, full of flavour. Fantastic food. Literally across from the ferry waiting lot, grab a bite here. Your taste buds will thank you.

This welcoming spot is perfectly situated across from the ferry terminal, making it an ideal stop for travelers and locals alike seeking a satisfying, flavorful meal.
The menu is a showcase of Southeast Asian favorites and comfort dishes, with highlights including the rich and aromatic Green Curry Chicken, the creamy and balanced Panang Curry, and the unmistakably bold Ginger Beef. The Yellow Curry, Mee Grob Lard Na, and fresh Papaya Salad add depth and variety, while options like Vegetarian Curry and Spring Rolls cater thoughtfully to plant-based diners. The Drunken Prawn and Seafood Salad reflect a fresh approach to seafood, complementing the rich, spicy curries.
What strikes me about Thaidal Zone is the home-style quality of the food. Every dish bursts with genuine, layered flavors that speak to both good technique and care in preparation. Portions here are generous, inviting you to savor each bite slowly or take leftovers home, a welcome bonus for those longer travel days. Service is consistently calm and attentive, even when bustling with families and ferry passengers, a testament to the team's smooth coordination under pressure.
The restaurant’s approach leans toward inclusivity rather than strict traditionalism, offering a mix of classic Thai fare alongside familiar comforts like American hamburgers and fries. This diversity ensures there's something for every palate, though some vegetarian diners note opportunities to expand plant-based protein options beyond vegetables alone.
Overall, Thaidal Zone Restaurant feels like a culinary harbor — warm, lively, and reliably delicious. Whether you crave the fiery kick of a curry, the fresh zest of a salad, or a cozy spot to regroup after an active day, this restaurant delivers with warmth and flavor. It’s a place I look forward to returning to, time and again, whenever I’m in Powell River.
